Frequently Asked Questions
How does The Remembered Story process work?
Every portrait begins with a story. You’ll share memories, photographs, meaningful places, passions and personal details through our guided storytelling experience. We thoughtfully review what you share and use those elements to create a deeply personal portrait that reflects the person or pet you love.
Do I need professional photographs?
Not at all. Some of the most meaningful photographs are everyday snapshots. We’ll guide you in choosing images that help us understand their face, personality and story. Older photographs are welcome, too.
Can you combine memories from different photographs?
Yes. Your portrait does not have to recreate a single photograph. We can thoughtfully bring together people, places, memories and meaningful details from different photographs and moments to create one cohesive visual story.
Will I have an opportunity to review the portrait?
Yes. Recognition matters deeply to us. You’ll have an opportunity to see the portrait and tell us whether it truly feels like them. If thoughtful refinements are needed, we’ll work with you according to the review and revision terms of your portrait experience.
Is The Remembered Story only for someone who has passed away?
No. The Remembered Story is about preserving a life and the stories that make someone unforgettable. Portraits can celebrate someone you’ve lost, honor a living parent or grandparent, preserve a family legacy, celebrate a relationship or capture the story of a beloved pet.
What happens after I share their story?
Once you submit their story, we carefully review the memories, photographs, people, places and meaningful details you’ve shared. From there, we begin identifying the elements that will guide the creation of your portrait. If we need clarification or an additional photograph, we’ll reach out to you.
How long does the portrait process take?
Because every portrait is individually created from the story you share, timing may vary. We take the time needed to thoughtfully review your story and create a portrait that feels personal and true. We’ll keep you informed throughout the experience, so you know what to expect as your portrait moves from story to creation and reveal.
Can meaningful symbols, dreams or special places be included?
Yes. A portrait can thoughtfully represent more than what appears in a photograph. Meaningful places, traditions, passions, dreams and symbolic details may be incorporated when they help tell the story authentically. We’ll use artistic interpretation to bring those elements together naturally.
Will my photographs and personal stories be kept private?
We understand that the memories and photographs you share may be deeply personal. They are entrusted to us for the purpose of creating your portrait and guiding your experience.
What if I’m not sure what to share?
That’s completely okay. You don’t need to arrive with the whole story figured out. Our guided storytelling experience will help you remember the people, places, passions and little details that mattered most. There are no perfect answers—only the memories that matter to you.
